Lancaster Aikido Club teaches traditional Japanese martial arts in the historic city of Lancaster. We train 3 days a week and offer classes to help you build confidence, improve fitness and flexibility, learn self defence skills, and meet like-minded people.
We place an equal emphasis on weapons training and empty handed techniques to develop a fully rounded martial artist, as well as break-falls and receptivity which ensures that nobody gets hurt. The club has been running for nearly 50 years and we will keep it going for at least another 50. Please get in touch if you want to be part of this wonderful community. |

UPCOMING 'TASTER' SESSIONS
As of January 4th, 2026, the first Sunday of each month will be an open, free, 1 hour taster session available to anyone between the ages of 14 and 60! Note: We also have weekly junior sessions.
We will introduce you to the fundamental elements of ukemi (breakfalls and rolling), tai sabaki (foot and body movement) and demonstrate what makes Aikido unique and different to other martial arts.
If you attend one of these free bite-sized introductory 'taster' classes, you are still entitled to two further sessions for free, so that's a total of 3 free training sessions before you need to decide on whether to join as a member.
You are welcome to stay for the 1 hour training after the 'taster', but that will be aimed at the regular participants so the content may be more challenging.
Note: Very occasionally a taster session may be postponed. Contact the club for confirmation.
